Within the decade HUSD will be a premier divinity school known not only for graduate theological education, but also for the advanced academic degree program that will produce competent thinkers and leaders to serve Historical Black theological schools, seminaries and colleges throughout the nation and the world. The proposed Ph.D. in Religious Studies would be the first of its kind at an historically Black theological institution. Thereby, producing scholars who will lead in the halls of academia, and influence the dialogue and thinking within the public square.
